Lucas Adrian Sanchez!

Baby Lucas Adrian made his appearance at 2:41pm on May 30, 2012, on his due date.

Here is my quick birth story.

Memorial Day, May 28th I went to bed and got everything ready to go to work.  All night I had mild contractions 10 mins apart until 6am, then they stopped.  I called work and decided to work from home day.  Tuesday night, May 29th, I decided to take a sleeping pill and try to get some sleep so that if labor was imminent I would be rested.  I woke up at 12:35am May 30th having contractions but again sort of mild.  This lasted all night but b/c I had taken a sleeping pill I was able to sleep between contractions.  I thought they would die down too but instead at 6:30 am when I got up to use the restroom I noticed some blood on the toilet paper and told Leo that I thought he should stay and work from home.  The contractions at that point were 8-10 mins apart.

Last belly shot.

I logged on to my work computer finished up some stuff and went for a short walk with Pebbles.  I finished packing my hospital bag, picking up the house and by 9:30 am they were 6-7 mins apart. I called the dr's office and they told me to wait until they were closer together 5-6 mins.  By 10:30am they were 6 mins apart and I was having to breath through the contractions.  At about 11am I called the dr's office again to let them know were were going to be on the way.  Right at that moment my contractions started coming 3-4 mins apart.  We jumped in the car and headed to the hospital at about 11:15am.

This is when things got a little rough and the contractions were getting pretty intense.  11:30am we parked in the garage and headed to L&D.  They checked me in and the nurse checked my progress and I was at 6cm! I could not believe it and started crying b/c I didn't think I was going to have enough time to get an epidural.  Contractions were coming about 3 mins.  The took me to the delivery room took blood, started IV fluids and they monitoring the baby and the contractions.

I was restricted to the bed and had to labor laying down b/c the baby's heart rate was dipping when I was sitting up.  I kept asking Leo to ask about the epidural b/c the pain was getting really bad and the contractions were coming every 2-3 mins and lasting about a minute.  I was freaking out that I would not get an epidural, transition was going to start, and I would have to push the baby without any meds.  At some point they gave me some Nubain and it helped take the edge off.  At about 1:15pm they said the anesthesiologist was on his way! I was so happy to hear that news.  I could have kissed the nurse.

At 1:30pm the anesthesiologist came in and started my epidural.  The first one didn't take and they had to re-do it.  The first epidural took away the pain so I could not feel the 2nd one.  They did my epidural on my side b/c the baby's heart rate was dipping.  I finally felt some relief but I started to feel an intense amount of pressure.  The nurse checked me and I was at 9cm!

The dr came in a few mins later and I was at 10cm and had so much pressure I thought I was just having to go to the bathroom.  The Dr broke my water and got the room ready for delivery.  Shortly after 2pm maybe 2:10pm, they told me push when I felt the pressure.  The baby's heart rate would dip with every contraction and there was meconium in the water.  I felt very rushed and after 15-20 mins of pushing the dr said we need him out and that she needed to give me an episiotomy to help me get him out.  And after pushing for just between 20-30 mins, Lucas Adrain made his appearance.  They took him quickly and they suction out all the meconium.  He also had his cord wrapped twice around his neck.  When the finally had him checked out, they gave him to me so that I could hold him.  I could not believe that after 9 long months but just a few hours of labor, Lucas made his appearance!  Lucas weighed a whopping 6lbs 3oz and measured 19.25 inches.

We are happy to be home and trying to sleep and rest as much as we can. Nicolas is in love with his little brother and is adjusting.

We'll keep you posted!

39.5 week update!

I've made it to 39 weeks 5 days and no sign of baby yet.  Here is the recap for the week.

Weeks: 39 weeks 5 days
Weight gain: 25-26.5lbs
Exercise: One good long walk and 2 short 1 mile walks around the block.
Name Update: Leo is not 100% sure on the name we decided about 2 months ago so we are now between two names! Cutting a little close wouldn't you say.  I'm a little frustrated but hopefully once he is born we will know what name fits him the best.
Pregnancy Complaints: Braxton Hicks still around and during the weekend my lower back has been really sore.  Today I feel much better and I think it was due to my massage on Saturday.
Other news: At my 39th week appointment I was at 2cm and 50% effaced.  Woohoo.  With Nic it took me about 40+ hours from the first contraction to 3cm.  I think this labor will be shorter or at least that is what I'm praying for.  I actually had a little scare last Sunday/Monday when I was having timeable contractions 8 minutes apart for about 4-5 hours but then they died down.  I think that is what got me to the 2cm.  No more contractions all week or this weekend.  Leo and I had thought that maybe this weekend was when he would make his appearance but I guess not.

I'm starting to wonder what he will look like, like Leo, me or Nic.  Will he have as much hair as Nic? I keep praying for a good labor and delivery and a healthy baby boy.  I pray that Nic adjusts to the new baby and that we have the patience for the new baby and Nic.  I know it is going to be an adjustment for the whole family and I pray for the strength to be able to survive the first few months that are so hard.

Here are the pics week 39!  Maybe next week it will be a baby instead!

Until next time!

38.5 week short update

My BFF Tiana had her baby and we made a quick trip to Miami Friday and got back this afternoon.  I'm now very tired.  So excuse the crappy pics and my short recap.

Weeks: 38 weeks 4 days
Weight gain: 24-26.5lbs
Exercise: One good long walk and keeping up with Nic.  That is enough exercise right there.
Pregnancy Complaints: There are days that the Braxton Hicks are all day yet others it is calm.  Feeling all around pretty good.
Other news: At my 38th week appointment I was at 1cm, "soft" but "long."  That is more progress than I ever had with Nic so that is cool!  I'm hoping for a shorter labor but enough time to get a person to come watch Nic while we head to the hospital.

My hospital bag is packed and ready, the car seat is installed, and the house is pretty ready.  (Still need to do a deep cleaning so hopefully the baby waits until after Thursday of this week to come, LOL)

Here are the pics!

Full Term!! 37.5 week update

Weeks: 37 weeks 4 days
Weight gain: 24-25lbs
Name progress: Adrian Daniel.  I hope he looks like an Adrian b/c we have no back up name. LOL
Exercise: Two long walk (2.2 miles each) and no achenes!! woohoo!
Pregnancy Complaints: Braxton hicks throughout the day but nothing too bad, no leg cramps this week (woohoo).  Feeling all around pretty good. Taking advantage of weekends to sleep and rest.
Other news: Today was Mother's Day and we had a great brunch and a relaxing day and weekend.  Only a few more weeks until we meet baby Adrain!!

I did a comparison shot of the two pregnancies and I think for the most part they are pretty similar.

Until next week!

35 & 36 week update!

I missed a week and I'm late for the 36 week update, oops.  It has been crazy busy lately with work and house stuff.  Here is the recap for the last week.

Weeks: 36 weeks 4 days
Weight gain: 22-24 lbs I gained some weight in two weeks.  I'm still a little under what I was with Nic but I think I'll be between 27-30 lbs by the end.
Name progress: Baby Adrian but Nicolas still does not acknowledge the baby by Adrian but by Baby Simba Nemo Patrick (Patrick from Spongebob).  Nicolas is too funny.
Exercise: I'm averaging a long walk (2-3 miles) once a week. But again I was achy for 2 days...boo.
Pregnancy Complaints: Same complaints, a little bit of braxton hicks, leg cramps thanks to wearing heals one afternoon, achy pelvic bone especially after a long walk and while turning in bed.  I've been really tired lately too but I'm still going a mile a minute at work and at home so it explains the exhaustion.  But aside from the normal stuff I'm feeling pretty good! I'm so grateful for an easy pregnancy b/c I don't think I could have handled the long commute, my stressful job and the house if it wasn't.
Other news:  I think Nicolas starting to sense something is going to change pretty soon. He stalls at bedtime and just wants to talk.  It worries me to think about splitting my time with a needy newborn and a needy toddler.  Nicolas is such a loving mama's boy that I think the adjustment is going to be hard for him.  I hope I can give them the time and attention they both will need and that we are patient with Nic as he transitions from an only child to a big brother.  Only time will tell.

So without further ado here are pics from 35 and 36 weeks.

Bare Belly at 35.5 weeks (the belly is taking over!)

I look a little messy but this was after my 2 mile walk and I knew if I didn't get the pic then I would have to miss a weekly picture.

Babyshower!!

On April 20th my good friend Cassandra threw me an awesome baby shower at work.  The decorations were beautiful, my co-workers/friends were extremely generous, and we had a really good time playing games (the men participated too!).  Leo played a couple of games and he even won one (it was actually a consolation price, LOL).

So here are some of the pics from that day!

This post is a little late but I wanted to thank Cassandra and all my co-workers and friends for their generosity.

34.5 weeks!

34.5 week recap!!

Weeks: 34 weeks 4 days
Weight gain: 20-20.5 lbs No significant weight gain since 29 weeks. This is kinda odd b/c with Nic I never stopped gaining.  I think I've been so busy that I'm not eating 6-7 times a day.  I think I'm only eating about 5 times.
Name progress: The name is decided and I'll reveal with the baby shower post since his name was plastered everywhere!!
Exercise: 1 times this week.  The one walk this week was just with Pebbles.  It was nice to have a relaxing walk just her and me.  But again I was achy for 2 days...boo.
Pregnancy Complaints: The braxton hicks as not as bad as 2 weeks ago but they are still there and I've noticed I get one around 6:41am every morning.  How random. LOL  Leg cramps were better too but I still had one or two nights where the cramps woke me up.  I'm starting to get more and more achy in my pelvic bone especially after a lot of walking or turning in bed.  It sucks!
Other news:  I had my work baby shower last week and it was AMAZING.  My friend Cassandra planned it all out and it was beautiful.  The decorations were so pretty, my co-workers were really generous, and everyone had a really fun time.  I will blog some of those pics later.  So after the baby shower I was able to sort and make a list of the things I needed for the baby and I think I am covered for at least the 6 months! Did I mention my co-workers were very generous!?

This was the first week in about a month where I took a bare belly shot.  I'm getting pretty big but surprisingly, I'm still pretty comfortable.

Until next week!

Maternity Pics by N@

The maternity pics of Nicolas' pregnancy were taken by my dad while we were on Christmas vacation (Dec. 2008).  Click here for that blog post.  This time life is crazier and we weren't able to get them done while we were in Miami so I took it into my own hands. LOL.  I set up the camera, enlisted Leo as my photographer and this was the outcome.  He didn't get my vision for all the pictures but they turned out better than expected.

I'm 99.9% sure that this is my last pregnancy so I want to make sure it is well documented so that I can go back and reminisce all the ups and downs.

Here are my favorites but you can click here for the rest of them.

33 weeks!

Stats for 33 weeks!

Weeks: 33 weeks 4 days
Weight gain: 19-20 lbs (no weight gain since week 29)
Name progress: No change to the baby name.  We are happy with the decision, everyone except for Nicolas.
Exercise: 2 times this week.  On Saturday I felt very achy after the walk and it lasted all day.  It sucks b/c I look forward to my walks. :(
Pregnancy Complaints: The braxton hicks have eased up in the last week.  Still noticeable but not as uncomfortable.  Maybe I'm just getting used to them.  The major pregnancy complaint for the week is leg cramps again.  For some reason they are back and they wake me up in the middle of the night.  Also, this week the baby had a very quite week and I was kinda worried during the weekdays but he started jiggling a lot more this weekend.
Other news:  I sorted and washed all the newborn and 0-3 month baby clothes for the little guy!  Some of the clothes are so tiny!! I can't believe there is going to be a little person in those little pieces very soon.  I enlisted Leo to try to take some maternity pics this weekend and I think they came out pretty good.  I set up the camera and he tried to capture my vision.  It is always slightly frustrating but they came out better than I expected.  (I'll do a post all them later).

Until next week!!

31 & 32 weeks recap...less than 2 months to go

What a busy week. Here is the short version of the story.

I didn't blog for the 31st week but I did get a picture while on in Miami for T's Baby Shower! Here are some of the stats for week 32.

Weeks: 32 weeks 4 days
Weight gain: 19-20 lbs (no weight gain since week 29)
Name progress: We have a name! It was my favorite name and Leo's favorite name will be used for a middle name. Nic has decided that he doesn't like either of the name we picked out so he is calling him Simba.
Exercise: Averaging 1 time a week but lack of time and exhaustion win.
Pregnancy Complaints: I've been having more and more braxton hicks contractions where my belly gets so hard that it is pretty uncomfortable. They have been getting more noticeable lately and they happen about 4-5 times a day. I don't remember feeling them this early with Nicolas.  I've also been feeling really sleepy while driving.  I feel like I'm about to pass out on my commute.  I need to get to bed earlier to try to curb the exhaustion.  We'll see if this week is better.
Other news: The nursery/guest bedroom is pretty much set up.  All we need is a few decorative pieces!!  I was hoping to get some of Nic's old clothes washed and put away but we didn't get to it this weekend.  Hopefully this week or next weekend.  There is still stuff to do but I'm feeling more ready for his arrival.

I had a 32 week appt on Thursday where the doctor measured the baby and looked at my amniotic fluid to make sure everything looked ok.  Everything looked great. He looked so cramped in there but it was amazing. He was head down with his feet by his head and the estimated weight was 3lbs 14oz already!!  By the measurements it seems that he will be about the same size as Nic when he is born.  I can't believe the time is almost here.

Here is my 31 week pic at Miami Beach.

Here is my 32 week pic.

I want to take some pics of Nic's big boy room and the nursery this week so maybe I'll blog the rooms then.

Until next post!

29 & 30 week update!

I didn't blog for the 29th week but I did get a picture while on vacation!  Here are some of the stats for week 30.

Weeks: 30 weeks 4 days
Weight gain: 19-19.5+ lbs
Name progress: None but hopefully we'll have it narrowed to top 3-4 this week.
Exercise: 2 times this week after a week off.  The weather in FL is great.  Warm and low humidity.  I'm also loving that there is more light at night so more time to get out with Nic.
Pregnancy Complaints: I found out last week that I'm anemic so I'm having to take iron pills.  They suck but I'll be good and take them with my prenatal vitamins at night.  Lately I've been feeling more pressure in my pelvis but nothing too uncomfortable.  It feels like he is burring into my pelvis.
Other news: We are working on getting the crib built and some of Nic's furniture transitioned to the mock baby nursery.  I'm so excited to finally have his crib built.  There is so much to do and only about 2 months to go!!  Next things on the to do list, wash all the baby gear stuff and Nic's hand me down clothes, deep clean the house, have the carpets cleaned, clear out clutter from closets, buy a car for Leo (hopefully in May), pack the hospital bag, and much more stuff.

Lately, he has been moving so much that Leo has seen my belly jiggle and move.  I feel him much more than I ever felt Nicolas.  It is an awesome feeling.  I can tell when he is adjusting to get comfortable and even have noticed some hiccups on most nights.  My favorite part of pregnancy is knowing that I'm growing a human being.  I'm patiently waiting to meet him and see what he looks like, his disposition and personality, etc.

I know Nic is going to be a great big brother.  Lately he is addressing my belly more and wants to make faces or buy little things for his baby brother.  He is the sweetest boy and while I know it is going to be a huge adjustment, Nicolas will be the sweetest big brother!

Here is my 29 week pic from the cruise.

30 week pic

Bare belly @ 30.5 weeks.

Caro, my sis, wanted a side by side comparison so here it goes.  It is crazy how different I'm carrying.  I'm weighing about the same but the belly is more out there than with Nic.

This post is long enough so see you next week!

28 weeks!

Weeks: 28 weeks 4 days
Weight gain: 15.6-17+ lbs (it varies)
Name progress: None  :-(
Exercise: I walked 1 time.  I tried through out the week but it has been so busy with work and house stuff.
Pregnancy Complaints: Less leg cramps this week woohoo.  I have this annoying rib pain on my left side.  It started about 6 weeks ago but I don't think it is the baby.  I think it is an organ or muscle being pushed into my rib.  It sucks and it makes me sit with extremely good posture.  My aunts would be proud. LOL
Other news: We have progress on getting stuff ready for our new arrival.  We organized the garage, moved around and removed furniture from the guest bedroom, moved the crib into the nursery/guest bedroom, moved our desk from the guest bedroom to a little nook in the kitchen, took stuff to the landfill and goodwill, and put stuff away in the attic.  I'm a little tired but it felt good to get stuff done.

I also visited 2 daycares this week. They were just "ok" and the worst part is that they aren't even convenient.  Lakeland has very few options for infants so we are very limited.  I'm sad but there is nothing we can do.  So for now our names are on the waiting list and we'll see how it works out.

And lastly, Leo and I are going on a babymoon this week! We leave on Thursday for a short cruise.  I can't wait for some adult time and some time off work.  The last 3 months have been so stressful that it is perfect timing.

And now some pictures.  They are not the best but they are funny and will be a good memory in the future.

It was raining and Leo got a little mad b/c we were both getting wet.

We got back from dinner and I wanted to try to get a better pic but instead I look like Alfalfa.  LOL

I tried fixing my hair but now I look Bozo.  LOL

and here is one of me like Bozo and my big bare belly. Oh well, the memory is what counts.

Until next week!!  Belly pic will be from the cruise!

27 weeks-3rd Trimester

Weeks: 27 weeks 4 days
Weight gain: 15.4-16+ lbs (it varies)
Name progress: None
Exercise: I walked 2 times with week.  Not bad but not good.
Pregnancy Complaints: My biggest complaint this week are leg cramps. The worst part is that I get  cramps in weird muscles on my calves and then I can't figure out how to stretch it out. I'm trying to up my water intake and eat a banana a day.
Other news: Nic and I survived another week without Leo.  It was a pretty crappy week because Nic had a bad cold all week.  I finally was able to get off from work on Thursday and made it to 3 appt's with him.  We enjoyed the day together.  On my 27 week appointment the doctor was happy with the progress and I'll be seeing him every 2 weeks from now on! About 3 months to go.  I need the time to slow down because we have so much to do.

Today's pic is from Disney.  Leo couldn't get my picture outside our house this weekend but I figured this was as good. :)

Have a great week!!

26 weeks

Weeks: 26 weeks 3 days
Weight gain: 14.8-16+ lbs (it varies)
Name progress: I told Leo we could go with what I though was his favorite name and he just said "eh, ok we can add it to the list." I wish the perfect name would just appear. So this mean no name.
Exercise: I walked/jogged (more walk than jog) 3 times with week!! woohoo.  On Tuesday I walked but after I felt so bad, I think I overdid it.  I felt better the rest of the week.
Pregnancy Complaints: I've had more aches and pains this week.  Recently I've felt like my belly is stretching, tight, and uncomfortable.
Other news: *Because of Nic's 3rd birthday celebrations last weekend I missed the 25 week update.  *Leo is leaving for a business trip this week and I'm hoping I can get some organizing done while he is gone.  *I have my 27 week appointment this week! woohoo.  *I looked back at pregnancy pics with Nicolas and I noticed a big change.  My belly is more out there this time and I do look bigger but I'm loving my belly.

bare belly shot: it is scary how much it has grown!!

Until next week!

24 weeks!

Weeks: 24.5 weeks
Weight gain: 13.2+
Name progress: none.  LOL
Exercise: Leo, Nic, Pebbles and I took a walk/jog on Thursday and I ran/walked again today to Starbucks.  Nic and I had a great morningI love having our mall/shopping center at a walking distance.
Pregnancy Complaints: This weeks I've been so exhausted by 8:30pm.  Twice I was in bed by 9:30pm. I'm not sure if it is pregnancy or just regular exhaustion.
Other news: We are starting to feel that time is slipping away so we are prepping the house for our new family member due to arrive at the end of May.  So today we converted Nic's room to a big boy room.  It was bitter sweet but I know it needed to get done.  I will elaborate in another post.

here is my bare belly shot.

Have a great week!

23 weeks!

Weeks: 23.5 weeks
Weight gain: 11.6-weighed on Wed.
Movement: He has moved a bunch this week.  He seems to be the most active after dinner.  Even my mom got to feel him move this week while she was in town.
Exercise: I jogged/walked today for the first time in almost 2 weeks.  This week was extra busy at work so I only got to get out today.  February has been pretty warm so today's jog was a little uncomfortable.
Pregnancy Complaints: A little extra tired but nothing out of the ordinary.
Other news: The week went by fast and it was thanks to the help from my mom.  She is so much help around the house when she comes visits.  Leo finally made it back from a business trip!! We had a "date" on Friday after he made it back and watched The Descendents.  It was a great movie. All in all a great week.

More pics:
Leo takes my weekly pics and he always seems to get frustrated with the amount of pics he needs to take for the perfect pic.  Here are some outtakes, not very flattering but funny.
