3rd week and counting

I only picked up my camera a few times but when I did I tried to complete the scavenger hunt. Here are my interpretations.

Bedroom (archive but not shared yet)



I took this picture the week before we moved from Raleigh.  I love his nursery and so does he.

Off in the Distance




We have wildlife in our backyard and one day this week, there was this really big bird (thanks Google-a gray heron). He kept walking away but it stood still enough for me to take it's picture. I used my 55-250mm lens, I really like this lens for these things. 

Tiny



These are Nic's rubber duckies. The "tiny" is called baby ducky and the big one is mama duck (aren't we creative).

Stripes



I wanted to find stripes in "nature" and then I remembered my cool cactus plant.  I'm not sure what it is called but it is the easiest plant ever.  I repotted it when we moved and it has grown and it is really healthy.

High Key



My computer that has PSE is out of commission and I didn't have time to really shoot a high key style photo so instead I took a picture of high "keys".  I hung them from my garage door and took a picture from below. LOL

2nd week in a row

So for the 2nd week in a row I actually went hunting for stuff to photograph.  The previous month has been so crazy that I've hardly pulled out my camera but I love doing the scavenger hunt b/c it forces me to pick up my camera.

Here are my interpretations:

Things that make you go "hmm"



I love photographing fog.  And this Saturday as we were getting ready to go to Disney I hit the jackpot.  The fog was so dense and the lake was so still.  I was giddy while I was outside taking these shots.  Makes me say "hmm" beautiful!!

Me time




Lately I've been playing soduko and it is so relaxing but at the same time frustrating.  I can do the easy and mild in less than 15 mins.  But the hard ones may take me 2 sessions. This is my new strategy b/c when I come back I can usually play better. So I look forward to playing a game or two of Soduko when Nic goes to bed. 

Decay


While in Disney I was looking for things that were decaying.  Well no such luck, Disney is too perfect. Then while waiting for the train I saw these machines their paint was chipping.  This was the closes to decay that I could find.

Group of Three



Lastly, this is a snapshot of Nicolas, Mickey and Minnie (group of three).  He was so excited to meet them.  He hugged them so long and was so excited.  The picture doesn't show his excitement but this was my favorite part of the day. 

Kitchen


I was looking for something to photograph in my kitchen and then I saw that my stand mixer bowl reflected my whole kitchen.  After making a makeshift tripod I was able to capture the above.  Not exactly what I was hoping but good enough.

Hunting...and 100th POST!!

So this is the first week in months that I've done a scavenger hunt and it is my 100th post!  And after driving 4 hours back home this is going to be quick.


Camera


On the way down to Miami, the moon was starting to appear and I loved how the light posts lead you to the moon.  I'm using this entry as camera b/c it was taken w/ my camera (a stretch, I know).  I wanted to take a cool picture of a camera but couldn't come up with something cool.

Camera phone


I tried taking a picture of the very dense fog but instead I got this.  I thought it was cool b/c it shows motion.  Not what I was going for but it was good.

Shoes

This is an archive.  Nic directs me to take pictures of different things now and this was his first request.  

Chair



I was trying to get rid of this chair before we moved and tried to take a picture for craigslist but Nic would not let me b/c he wanted to be on it. I guess he didn't want to part with it.

Imperfection

And lastly this is a picture of my siblings and Dad. Our family is far from perfect and after a lot of years of hurt feelings we are all in a good place and really enjoy spending time together.  We had a great time this weekend and can't wait until we get together again.

Scavenger Hunt 10/24

Here is another entry for Scavenger Hunt Sunday. Most categories will showcase Nicolas since I didn't have much time to think outside the box this week.

Sky

The Raleigh skies have been amazing. Beautiful cloud formations and colors that range from black to pinks. Just amazing.

Child

I hardly ever try to go and get posed pictures of Nic but as I walked along the lake I tried giving Nic instructions and he actually listen. This is just one of my favorites from that session.

Dinning:

This one is a stretch but I didn't get one of officially dinning but I did get Nicolas eating an apple. Does this count? ;)

Five senses:

I tried with both Nic and Pebbles to get a picture of the 5 senses but I was only able to get Pebbles nose Nic would not sit still enough to even get one close up of his eyes. So instead I'm submitting this one because you can see 4 out of the 5 body parts that represent the 5 senses (eyes, nose, mouth, and ears).

Night

And lastly night. The moon was so bright and beautiful it was begging to photograph it last week when it was full.

Scavenger Hunt 10/18

I'm back to doing the scavenger hunt and this week it was tough. I tried getting some cool shots but ended up with kinda boring ones but I still wanted to participate.

1) Faces framed in nature

So I kinda cheated on this one b/c I made the eyes but doesn't this leaf look like an elephant?

2) Jack-O-Lantern

The finished product. By the way this was the first time we have ever carved pumpkins. Not to shabby.

3) Warm

A boring scarf.

4) Side lighting

I tried many different things and these were my two favorites of my two favorite things to photograph, Nic and Pebbles.

5) Sunset (from my archives)

And this one is a little different. I set up the shot and my BFF took the picture. I wanted to get a silhouette of Leo and me while on vacation. Not perfect but good enough.

Scavenger Hunt 9/20

I seem to work best under pressure. Three of the five pics from the scavenger hunt were taken yesterday and one today. (oops again). These were kind of hard for me because they really didn't have a human component. Or at least I couldn't find one. So with no further ado...

Wish/Dream

I had always dreamed of going to Paris. This is one from my archives (circa Feb 2008). It was taken w/ my P&S and I re-edited for this scavenger hunt.

Clean

I found this bar of soap last night in my hotel room. Soap=Clean.

Currency

Leo went to Malta and he brought back some Euros. This is one of the coins.

Pair

Here I have two pairs...a pair of jeans and a pair of shoes. No head b/c it was a guy standing waiting for the metro yesterday at the airport.

Square

And I took this one today on my way to work. I was looking for a square and was frustrated that I could not find one. Then I looked up and say them....a building full of windows in the shape of squares. Score!

Scavenger Hunt Sunday 9/12

Hey all! I'm joining the party just a little late. I actually took two of my pictures today...please don't shoot me.

Here are my interpretations...

Power line:

I jog every Saturday and along the trail are these power lines that stretch a few blocks. I was looking forward to photographing this stretch of power lines but once I got to the park, I realized I forgot the least for my dog! Pebbles is my jogging partner and I could not leave her behind. So instead I took this one right before I drove back home to get the leash.

Newspaper:

I took this one today. These line the entrance right as I enter my job. I edited in a vintage style since newspapers are a dying breed.

Pose:

Nicolas was playing Sunday morning with his dinosaur puzzle and he posed his dinosaurs along the window. Perfect opportunity.

Hobby:

Photography is my first and only hobby. For a while I thought cooking was my hobby but Leo is the pickiest eater so that limited my creativity.

Landscape:

I looked for a "true" landscape in my pics from my vacation and none spoke to me. So instead I'm entering this sunset/landscape as a landscape. I love sunset pictures and I took plenty while on vacation.

Scavenger Hunt Sunday 8/29

It has a hectic week after getting back from vacation. Why does it seem that we always need a vacation from our vacation? But I was able to get all my pics for the scavenger hunt. Enjoy.

Bokeh

I completely forgot about the POTW, but I had one from my vacation. I went out to look for things to photograph and I noticed these delicate purple flowers and the sun streaming behind the bushes.


Business

It may be a stretch but my hubby (Leo)is going on a business trip so I took a picture of him. Nic and I dropped him off at the airport earlier today. I know we will manage but I already miss him.

Eco-friendly

I try to recycle everything that can be recycled in my house. This is what we have in the recycle bin so far this week.

Repetition

These leaves caught me eyes when I noticed the cool pattern. They were vibrant and so symmetrical.


Music

Lastly, most music comes from Nic's loud toys. His bilingual drum and guitar are just a few.

Vacation Edition: Scavenger Hunt

Leo and I went on our adults only vacation this past week. We had a great time catching up with our BFF's from Miami (since they joined us) and enjoying sunny beach days. One of my goals was to get a tan, water ski, sleep in, hike a small mountain, get all my pics for the scavenger hunt, and enjoy my time with Leo. All were accomplished. So this is my scavenger hunt, vacation edition. I hope you enjoy them.

Leading Lines:

I'm not sure if this counts as leading lines, but the lines of the boat and Leo & me lead your view to the mountains. These were called the Piton Mountains.

Comfortable:

I think this is self explanatory. The bed was so comfortable and sleeping and letting the sun wake us up was a great change of pace.

Feet:

This was taken w/ my P&S. Leo and I were relaxing by the pool and enjoying the beautiful beach view.

Sight:

I took advantage and got some really great sunset shots. This one was one of my favorites. The sky was orange and pink and the sun was just peeking out of the clouds. It was a beautiful sight.

Sweet:

And lastly, sweet. We arrived at our room and this was laying on our bed. Chocolate covered fruit. Yummy!
