Again!

Lucas has been with a cold, virus, congested, ear infection, etc since he was 11 weeks 5 days! We are now 20 weeks 5 days and no signs of improvement.

I have to remind myself that it could be worse. He could have a bad illness. I know this will pass, he will get better, he will eventually sleep. So instead of feeling bad for myself, I'll say thank you to God for giving me my two boys.

I miss them everyday while I work and look forward to seeing them at the end of my long and stressful day.

And what is a post without a picture of the sweetest boys?

Until next time!

What we have been up to lately

So what have we been up to lately you ask.  The days fly by and all I know is that my baby growing too fast and my big boy is getting bigger.

Lucas turned 3 months at the end of August.  He is such a happy and good baby.  If he would sleep at night he would be perfect, LOL.

So here are some pics of the boys from last month.

3 months!

Brothers! Nic is 3 years 6 months and Lucas is 3 months

My boys! Aren't they the cutest!

And I've been wanting to do a comparison shot and this is the best I got.  The similarities, the hair, and...that is all I got. LOL.  To me they look different but you tell me.

Until next time,

Wittle People 8/29

I have a new wittle person in my family. He is happy as a clam.

We were on our weekly grocery shopping trip and he was looking so big I had to get this pic of him. My baby is growing more and more each day. Here it is!
This is my first "challenge" in a very long time.  And not a great pic but I was trying to blog from my phone and it one of my most recent pics on my phone.

To see more wittle people...go here.

Until next time.

12 week recap

So after 12 weeks here is the low down:
  • Lucas got sick this week and had an ear infection. Poor baby but it hasn't affected him much he is a happy baby.
  • I've been back to work for 7 weeks and so far so good.  I'm learning my new job and really enjoying the challenge.
  • Nicolas has moved to Pre-K 3 and so far is really enjoying his new class and teachers.
  • We have finalized the contract on our new house and should be closing sometime in Nov!
  • My anniversary is coming up in just a few days! 8 years!
I feel stressed, exhausted, sleep deprived, and HAPPY.  I pictured life with 2 kids before Lucas was born and I was scared.  But it has not been as hard as I imagined it.  Nicolas and Lucas make everyday worth it. I look forward to spending time with them after work and instead of cleaning or picking up on weekends all I want to do is spend time just watching them grow. (and of course sleep. LOL)

Here are just a few of my favorite pics of August.  And finally a family picture! Pebbles is missing but maybe next time.

Baby Lucas is 2 months old!

Lucas is 2 months!! The last 3+ weeks have been crazy.  Thank God for my mom being here to help with the boys and the house.  She has been a life saver.

A Lucas update:

Weight: 10.2 lbs
Length: 21.25 inches

Started cooing at about 6.5-7 weeks.  Started socially smiling at about 4-5 weeks. He is a happy and easy going baby.  He still has very short awake periods but lately they are getting longer and more frequent.

I am really enjoying the baby stage and hate it that I'm missing so much of it because I started working already.

Nicolas is the sweetest big brother and really loves his baby brother.  So much to catch up but no time.  So for now I'll just leave you with a few pics.

I love my boys!

The happiest baby boy!

Until next time!

1 month down!

Look who survived the first month of being a mother of two!!  The nights are long and lack of sleep is a b!*%$ but I feel happy and look forward to the day with Lucas and Nicolas.  The baby blues skipped me this time around and I'm so grateful.  Last time I did not enjoy the newborn stage and felt very overwhelmed by motherhood.  This time my house is a mess, but I feel happy and enjoy being a mother of two.

Lucas stats for the 1st month:
Weight @ 1 month: 8lbs 2.8oz
1st bottle at 4 weeks.  Chugged it down with no problem!
Starting smiling at about 3.5 weeks
A little bit of cooing at 4.5 weeks
Still sleeps a lot but cat naps not long naps
Doesn't really like tummy time but we are working on it so his neck gets stronger.
Lucas and I venture out often and he is an angel while out.

Originally I was going to take 12 weeks of maternity leave but a NEW JOB (woohoo!!) has cut that short.  So I will be returning to work July 9th.  Lucas will only be 5 weeks 5 days but he is being taken care of by the best nanny, my mom!

I know life is only going to get crazier when I start working but I'm really excited about the new job!

Here are my favorite pics of the last month.

2 weeks down!

The way I would describe these last two weeks is good.

I feel GOOD.  I was so worried while pregnant that I would have the baby blues really bad like I did with Nicolas but they are no where in sight.  And that is a relief.  Yes, I'm tired, sleep deprived, boobs are sore, I'm still healing, but I feel NORMAL.  I'm happy, I enjoy the time with Lucas in the day time, I enjoy my time with Nicolas in the afternoons, and Leo and I hang out until about 10pm and talk about our day.

But enough about me. Here is the run down on the boys.

Lucas:
In the first few days he went from 6lbs 3oz to a low of 5lbs 12oz.  But today at his 2 week appointment he gained all his birth weight and weighed 6 lbs 12.4oz! Nicolas weighed 6lbs 13oz at birth!  So Leo and I have realized we make small and hairy babies, LOL.  Lucas has already lost his belly button stump.  He lost it at about 9 days but it is still a little gunky so we are still doing sponge baths.

At 3 days old my little guy was diagnosed with a milk intolerance so that meant that means I have to cut out all dairy from my diet and baked dairy if it is in the top 5 ingredients.  I was pretty upset but after two weeks, I've realized it is not as hard and I can deal for at most a year.

Lucas and I spend the day together and are getting into a loose routine.  Lucas is a pretty chill baby.  He sleeps a lot in the daytime, only cries when he is hungry or tired, and eats every 2-3 hours in the daytime and nighttime.

Nicolas:
At around 4pm we go pick up Nicolas from school and we all hang out until Leo gets home at around 7:30pm.  Nicolas is starting to warm up to the baby.  He is very proud of his little brother and shows him off to his friends at school.  He will ask to hold him and today he even asked if he could burp him.  He sang a burp song he learned from the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.  It was so cute.  Here is the video.

and here are some pics from the last two weeks.

He makes these cute facial expressions and I think he is smiling but I think it is a little early.  But I'll take them.  Love his cute face.

Sweet sleepy face

Look at my crazy hair! and I'm getting baby acne, boo.  Oh well.  I'm still cute.

Until the next post!

Lucas Adrian Sanchez!

Baby Lucas Adrian made his appearance at 2:41pm on May 30, 2012, on his due date.

Here is my quick birth story.

Memorial Day, May 28th I went to bed and got everything ready to go to work.  All night I had mild contractions 10 mins apart until 6am, then they stopped.  I called work and decided to work from home day.  Tuesday night, May 29th, I decided to take a sleeping pill and try to get some sleep so that if labor was imminent I would be rested.  I woke up at 12:35am May 30th having contractions but again sort of mild.  This lasted all night but b/c I had taken a sleeping pill I was able to sleep between contractions.  I thought they would die down too but instead at 6:30 am when I got up to use the restroom I noticed some blood on the toilet paper and told Leo that I thought he should stay and work from home.  The contractions at that point were 8-10 mins apart.

Last belly shot.

I logged on to my work computer finished up some stuff and went for a short walk with Pebbles.  I finished packing my hospital bag, picking up the house and by 9:30 am they were 6-7 mins apart. I called the dr's office and they told me to wait until they were closer together 5-6 mins.  By 10:30am they were 6 mins apart and I was having to breath through the contractions.  At about 11am I called the dr's office again to let them know were were going to be on the way.  Right at that moment my contractions started coming 3-4 mins apart.  We jumped in the car and headed to the hospital at about 11:15am.

This is when things got a little rough and the contractions were getting pretty intense.  11:30am we parked in the garage and headed to L&D.  They checked me in and the nurse checked my progress and I was at 6cm! I could not believe it and started crying b/c I didn't think I was going to have enough time to get an epidural.  Contractions were coming about 3 mins.  The took me to the delivery room took blood, started IV fluids and they monitoring the baby and the contractions.

I was restricted to the bed and had to labor laying down b/c the baby's heart rate was dipping when I was sitting up.  I kept asking Leo to ask about the epidural b/c the pain was getting really bad and the contractions were coming every 2-3 mins and lasting about a minute.  I was freaking out that I would not get an epidural, transition was going to start, and I would have to push the baby without any meds.  At some point they gave me some Nubain and it helped take the edge off.  At about 1:15pm they said the anesthesiologist was on his way! I was so happy to hear that news.  I could have kissed the nurse.

At 1:30pm the anesthesiologist came in and started my epidural.  The first one didn't take and they had to re-do it.  The first epidural took away the pain so I could not feel the 2nd one.  They did my epidural on my side b/c the baby's heart rate was dipping.  I finally felt some relief but I started to feel an intense amount of pressure.  The nurse checked me and I was at 9cm!

The dr came in a few mins later and I was at 10cm and had so much pressure I thought I was just having to go to the bathroom.  The Dr broke my water and got the room ready for delivery.  Shortly after 2pm maybe 2:10pm, they told me push when I felt the pressure.  The baby's heart rate would dip with every contraction and there was meconium in the water.  I felt very rushed and after 15-20 mins of pushing the dr said we need him out and that she needed to give me an episiotomy to help me get him out.  And after pushing for just between 20-30 mins, Lucas Adrain made his appearance.  They took him quickly and they suction out all the meconium.  He also had his cord wrapped twice around his neck.  When the finally had him checked out, they gave him to me so that I could hold him.  I could not believe that after 9 long months but just a few hours of labor, Lucas made his appearance!  Lucas weighed a whopping 6lbs 3oz and measured 19.25 inches.

We are happy to be home and trying to sleep and rest as much as we can. Nicolas is in love with his little brother and is adjusting.

We'll keep you posted!

39.5 week update!

I've made it to 39 weeks 5 days and no sign of baby yet.  Here is the recap for the week.

Weeks: 39 weeks 5 days
Weight gain: 25-26.5lbs
Exercise: One good long walk and 2 short 1 mile walks around the block.
Name Update: Leo is not 100% sure on the name we decided about 2 months ago so we are now between two names! Cutting a little close wouldn't you say.  I'm a little frustrated but hopefully once he is born we will know what name fits him the best.
Pregnancy Complaints: Braxton Hicks still around and during the weekend my lower back has been really sore.  Today I feel much better and I think it was due to my massage on Saturday.
Other news: At my 39th week appointment I was at 2cm and 50% effaced.  Woohoo.  With Nic it took me about 40+ hours from the first contraction to 3cm.  I think this labor will be shorter or at least that is what I'm praying for.  I actually had a little scare last Sunday/Monday when I was having timeable contractions 8 minutes apart for about 4-5 hours but then they died down.  I think that is what got me to the 2cm.  No more contractions all week or this weekend.  Leo and I had thought that maybe this weekend was when he would make his appearance but I guess not.

I'm starting to wonder what he will look like, like Leo, me or Nic.  Will he have as much hair as Nic? I keep praying for a good labor and delivery and a healthy baby boy.  I pray that Nic adjusts to the new baby and that we have the patience for the new baby and Nic.  I know it is going to be an adjustment for the whole family and I pray for the strength to be able to survive the first few months that are so hard.

Here are the pics week 39!  Maybe next week it will be a baby instead!

Until next time!

38.5 week short update

My BFF Tiana had her baby and we made a quick trip to Miami Friday and got back this afternoon.  I'm now very tired.  So excuse the crappy pics and my short recap.

Weeks: 38 weeks 4 days
Weight gain: 24-26.5lbs
Exercise: One good long walk and keeping up with Nic.  That is enough exercise right there.
Pregnancy Complaints: There are days that the Braxton Hicks are all day yet others it is calm.  Feeling all around pretty good.
Other news: At my 38th week appointment I was at 1cm, "soft" but "long."  That is more progress than I ever had with Nic so that is cool!  I'm hoping for a shorter labor but enough time to get a person to come watch Nic while we head to the hospital.

My hospital bag is packed and ready, the car seat is installed, and the house is pretty ready.  (Still need to do a deep cleaning so hopefully the baby waits until after Thursday of this week to come, LOL)

Here are the pics!

Full Term!! 37.5 week update

Weeks: 37 weeks 4 days
Weight gain: 24-25lbs
Name progress: Adrian Daniel.  I hope he looks like an Adrian b/c we have no back up name. LOL
Exercise: Two long walk (2.2 miles each) and no achenes!! woohoo!
Pregnancy Complaints: Braxton hicks throughout the day but nothing too bad, no leg cramps this week (woohoo).  Feeling all around pretty good. Taking advantage of weekends to sleep and rest.
Other news: Today was Mother's Day and we had a great brunch and a relaxing day and weekend.  Only a few more weeks until we meet baby Adrain!!

I did a comparison shot of the two pregnancies and I think for the most part they are pretty similar.

Until next week!

35 & 36 week update!

I missed a week and I'm late for the 36 week update, oops.  It has been crazy busy lately with work and house stuff.  Here is the recap for the last week.

Weeks: 36 weeks 4 days
Weight gain: 22-24 lbs I gained some weight in two weeks.  I'm still a little under what I was with Nic but I think I'll be between 27-30 lbs by the end.
Name progress: Baby Adrian but Nicolas still does not acknowledge the baby by Adrian but by Baby Simba Nemo Patrick (Patrick from Spongebob).  Nicolas is too funny.
Exercise: I'm averaging a long walk (2-3 miles) once a week. But again I was achy for 2 days...boo.
Pregnancy Complaints: Same complaints, a little bit of braxton hicks, leg cramps thanks to wearing heals one afternoon, achy pelvic bone especially after a long walk and while turning in bed.  I've been really tired lately too but I'm still going a mile a minute at work and at home so it explains the exhaustion.  But aside from the normal stuff I'm feeling pretty good! I'm so grateful for an easy pregnancy b/c I don't think I could have handled the long commute, my stressful job and the house if it wasn't.
Other news:  I think Nicolas starting to sense something is going to change pretty soon. He stalls at bedtime and just wants to talk.  It worries me to think about splitting my time with a needy newborn and a needy toddler.  Nicolas is such a loving mama's boy that I think the adjustment is going to be hard for him.  I hope I can give them the time and attention they both will need and that we are patient with Nic as he transitions from an only child to a big brother.  Only time will tell.

So without further ado here are pics from 35 and 36 weeks.

Bare Belly at 35.5 weeks (the belly is taking over!)

I look a little messy but this was after my 2 mile walk and I knew if I didn't get the pic then I would have to miss a weekly picture.

Babyshower!!

On April 20th my good friend Cassandra threw me an awesome baby shower at work.  The decorations were beautiful, my co-workers/friends were extremely generous, and we had a really good time playing games (the men participated too!).  Leo played a couple of games and he even won one (it was actually a consolation price, LOL).

So here are some of the pics from that day!
